Wikispaces is a project to provide an out-of-the-box wiki installation for hackerspaces. This wiki holds the basic content for new hackerspace wikis. Project content such as this page can be found in the wikispaces category and on talk pages. An original project draft can be found here.
[edit] Why
Setting up a wiki is easy. Setting up a wiki with good structured data and awesome templates is not. Because of this, most wikis end up being very basic and chaotic, and no where near use the full potential MediaWiki and extensions provide. The wikispaces project aims to provide the basic setup, so that you can have a well-designed wiki without having to be an experienced MediaWiki user. It also removes the need to keep setting up the same datastructures if you manage multiple wikis, and encourages consistency, which then facilitates inter-wiki sharing of data.

Wikispaces is primarily a wiki content bundle, which is a collection of wiki pages containing content.
Once the content bundle has taken form, we can create a distribution which includes the complete needed codebase.

You can get the bundle via Special:Export and import it into your new wiki via Special:Import.
